- Camera Data & Images: We require access to your device's camera to function. When you snap a picture of a luxury item, that image is processed to identify the product.
- Device Information: We may collect standard device information such as your mobile device ID, model, operating system version, and IP address to ensure app compatibility and security.
2. How We Process Images (AI & Data Retention)
DupeSnap is designed with privacy as a priority.
Important: We do not permanently store the photos you take on our servers or your device.
When you take a photo, the image data is transmitted securely to our AI provider (Google Gemini API) solely for the purpose of analysis and product identification. Once the analysis is complete and the results are returned to your device, the image data is discarded.
3. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to facilitate our app's core functionality:
- Google Gemini API: Used for image recognition and processing.
- Retail Partners: To provide shopping alternatives, we may link to third-party retailers such as Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and Walmart. If you click a link and make a purchase, we may interact with these platforms to facilitate the redirection. These sites have their own independent privacy policies.
4. Permissions
To use the app, we request the following permissions:
- Camera: Required to capture images of items you wish to find alternatives for.
- Internet: Required to send image data to the AI processor and fetch product search results.
5. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
